Have to figure out all the nuances etc. Just got this, great size, lightweight. still learning.
after 3 months, i consider it as a piece of junk:1. after 4 years, the lense cover won't open. very difficult to take pictures outdoor with bright sun. got DVD-DCR100 as gift to a relative. highest resolution at 720x480,,, bought DCR610.
2. Sony had been making good products. bought DCR300 for myself. no flash light.
The only thing I was not to crazy about was the location of the zoom control. The booklet was a little hard to grasp,I had to read it a few times before I got how to do certain things. All in all I would recommend this product to anyone needing a camcorder. I am very satisfied with this camcorder. I found it easy to use, by just trying out different things. I found myself accidently using the zoom while holding the camera.
Other than that, the camera looks awesome. I was so upset looking through the box to see if had overlooked it and noticed that they forget to put the remote in there too. I just received my camera today and I was excited when I opened up the box to see that the camera was in excellent condtion and almost looks brand new. I checked to make sure everything was in the box and grabbed the battery to try and charge it but noticed that they DID NOT put the a/c adaptor in the box. I understand that I did buy this camera used BUT if they did not have all the pieces that belonged to the camera, it should have been notated before I purchased it.
The CD is only for Windows--no Mac software is provided. However, Sony isn't completely truthful when advertising the camcorder as Mac compatible. After almost a year of using a DVD player hooked to my Miglia TV Max+ to feed the video into Quick Time and re-record my movies, I found a program named Handbrake that will export the movies directly from the camcorder to my Mac. I love the camera. I've had it almost a year and enjoy the ease of use it provides. While the enclosed USB cable does work to transfer.jpg files from the memory stick, it does nothing for transferring the movie files.
